How to set up my personal profile (Photos, Interests, Guestbook, etc.)?

There is a personal profile for every user, but only registered users can customise and change theirs.
The first requirement therefore is that you register your nickname. In case you are not a registered user already, you can become a registered user right here if you want to.

Some of the settings/functions in a profile are reserved for VIPs. If you cannot find a setting/function where described but desire to have it, you can still consider becoming a VIP.

As a registered user there are several ways to get to your own profile:

If you have not already logged in, you can have a look at your profile by searching for your nickname with the Site Search or click on "People" in the navigation and search for your nickname in the "Search for users". You cannot modify your profile then.

You are on the start page after a successful login.

• Either click on your personal photo - in case you have already uploaded one - or your nickname in the greeting.
  
• You can also click on "Profile" in the subnavigation and afterwards click on "->View profile" on the utmost right of the page.
  
• Enter your nickname at the Site Search or click on "People" in the navigation and search for your nickname in the "Search for users".

To modify your profile you can either click on "Profile" in the subnavigation or - in case you are looking at your profile - on the start page of the profile at the bottom of the page at the sentence "This is your own profile." on the link "You can change it here.".

You can modify your profile using the links "Profile", "Favorites", "Interests", "Pictures", "Pages", "Greetings", and "Guestbook".

Profile
At "Profile" you can enter personal data like you name, your date of birth or residence.
After having entered all data you want to submit, click on "Change" at the bottom of the page. You will get a message which says "Saved". Just leave out input fields you do not want to fill in or choose "not specified" as preselected.

Please note that all data you enter in your profile, can be read by any other user! For this reason think thoroughly what kind of data you publish. Do fill in only data you would, should the situation arise, also tell a total stranger in the street. This is especially true if you are under age: Do under no circumstances enter your full real name, the name of your school or class, your phone or mobile number or even your full address without talking to your parents beforehand.

Favorites
At "Favorites" you can enter your favourite rooms (please check the spelling as otherwise the link leads to a completely other chat room), your favourite food, your hobbies and lots more.
Again, just leave out things you do not want to fill in. After having entered all data you want to enter, click on "Change" at the bottom of the page you already know from the topic "Profile".

Interests
At "Interests" you can enter, separated by commas, up to 200 things you are interested in or like. Thus other users which share your interests can more easily find you.
One interest is best expressed with a single or just a few words and you should be able to complement a sentence starting "I Iike..."/"I am interested in..." with it. If you for example like reading books you would enter "books" and not just "book". If you absolutely dislike something, just add "not", i.e. "not books".
The order of your entries does not matter by the way, the system will automatically sort them alphabetically. Do also not be surprised at some words perhaps being spelt different from your spelling after saving. In case somebody has entered the same item first and wrote it for example in lowercase letters it will be changed to lowercase also though you perhaps used uppercase.

Pictures
At "Pictures" you can upload pictures and manage pictures you have uploaded before.

"Comment" resp. "Pages"
At "Comment" resp. "Pages" you can enter whatever you want, within the limits of the Terms and Conditions of course.
The gauge below the entrybox "x% filled" shows how much space is still left for your data. After having filled in the data, just click on "Change", ready.
To create more pages in addition to your comment, click on "->Add a new page", enter a name for the page, click on "Add", ready. The order of the pages will be arranged automatically according to the pages' names based on the alphabet.
To edit a certain page, just select it from the pulldown menu.
To rename a page, click on "->Rename a page", select the page from the pulldown menu, enter the new name and click on "Change".
To delete a page, click on "->Remove an existing page", select the page from the pulldown menu, click on "Delete", ready.
The default page "Comment" cannot be deleted. In case you do not want a comment, just do not enter anything, it will not be displayed in your profile then.

By the way you can also use links, headlines, etc. in your comment and your additional pages. How to use these is explained in format help which you can find below the entrybox, on the right.

Click on "Add picture" below the entrybox to insert a new image in a page. A window, which shows the pictures from your collection will open. Just click on the image desired, and the required text code will automatically be inserted in the entrybox.

In case you want to insert a smiley or another graphic, just click on "Add smiley" resp. "Add graphic" below the entrybox. A window which shows the smilies resp. graphics available will open. Just click on the smiley resp. graphic desired, and the required text code will automatically be inserted in the entrybox.

Every click on the button "Change" will activate your changes so that everyone can see them.

Greetings
At "Greetings" you can automatically have other users greeted without having to always drudgingly enter them - perhaps with links even - in your comment or pages. There are several options available for greetings:
You can choose between greetings to your entire friends list or to certain users, whom you enter - mind the exact spelling of the nicknames - in the entrybox which will be shown.
You can also enter text for the beginning of the page in the other entrybox.
A click on the button "Change" will save and activate your changes.
In case you do not want the greetings page be shown in your profile, choose "not active" which is the default setting also.

Guestbook
At "Guestbook" you can change settings concerning your guestbook.
Decide whether the guestbook is to be shown in your profile.
Decide whether you want to allow graphic smileys in your guestbook.
Decide who is allowed to write entries in your guestbook. You can choose between "All", "Friends", and "No-one".
You can fill in text which you want to appear above your guestbook in the entrybox.
Click on the "Change" button to save and activate your changes.
