How do these rankings work??

What is a rating?
A rating is a parameter which is supposed to indicate the probable strength of a player as exactly as possible. There are different rating methods to define this parameter.

Where do I find the rankings?
You will find the rankings under "Games" in the "List of multiplayer games" at the respective game.

Which rating method does Spinchat use?
Spinchat uses a method developed by Prof. Mark E. Glickman, the so-called "Glicko Rating System".
This method uses methods of applied statistics to iteratively determine the rating from the result of games.
According to Prof. Glickman the ELO rating method known from chess is a special case of the Glicko System.
To iteratively calculate the rating the method uses a player's rating (R), the ratings deviation (RD) before the game and the game's result.
A detailed description of the used method is available here.

What is this ratings deviation about?
The RD measures how well the R already complies with the real strength of a player. The interval [ R - 2 * RD , R + 2 * RD ] complies a 95% confidence interval, means we are 95% confident that the player's real strength lies within the interval.
It follows from this that as smaller the RD as more exactly the R is already measured.

I have already played some games. Why am I not in the ranking?
Only those players appear in the ranking whose R is already narrowed down exactly enough, means the related RD must be smaller than a certain threshold value.

I have played as many games as X. X is in the ranking, but not me. Why?
X has a lower RD with the same amount of games; means to initially determine the R as fast as possible play
