Melted in a pot with a little butter, then mixed with puffed rice cereal which is then pressed into a baking pan and cooled before being cut into delicious squares.

I do something similar at Halloween, although instead of puff cereal I use popcorn, roll them into balls and when they solidify and flatten out a little, they look just like little brains. >:)

When I was kid we would get popcorn balls on Halloween (just like you described) but now nothing homemade is allowed. Everything has to be store bought and pre-packaged for the safety of the children. I don't think my kids even know what a popcorn ball is. :/
