Strategus
Strategus is a strategy game that is being played with blinded playing cards and which demands a good memory. The aim of the game is to capture the adversary's flag (=apple) or make him unable to move.
Preparing the game
40 playing cards are at each player's disposal. They are marked with various animals and objects. The setup is as follows:
| 1x elephant (1) | 4x wolf (7) | ||
| 1x grizzly (2) | 5x fox (8) | ||
| 2x rhino (3) | 8x scout (9) | ||
| 3x gorilla (4) | 1x mouse (10) | ||
| 4x lion (5) | 6x trap | ||
| 4x tiger (6) | 1x apple (flag) |
The game field is subdivided into 10x10 fields. Each player has his own setup zone which consists of the four lower rows of one's own side. Here one's own pieces can bet set arbitrarily.
To do so one marks the desired piece in the upper choice field and then with a click puts it into an empty field.
Undesired placements can be canceled by clicking on it and adding it to the choice field again. As soon as one has set all pieces and is satisfied with the setup, one only has to click on the "ready" button.
As soon as the adversary ist ready, his cards appear blinded in the other half of the playing field.
The game starts as soon as both players are ready.

Course of the game Generally each piece can be moved by one field either level or upright. One can only move to empty fields or fields taken by the adversary. Exceptions:

After a fight the piece that lost is removed and the moving piece - in case it is still there - is moved to the target field. Afterwards all adversary cards are blinded again.
Winning
One player wins the game as soon as his adversary's apple (flag) is caught or the adversary just cannot move anyore as he does not have any more animals or he cannot move his pieces anymore.
