There are some rude defensive people out there. I think it's because they're too consumed by themselves to look outside and beyond who and what they are. The expectation is that everyone is like them and if they are not, they are labelled into a preconcieved identy.

My daughter skates this weekend in Ann Arbor Michigan. She's competing in 6 events including 4 dances. There's a trophy for the skater that accumulates the most points for 4 dances. She's only been doing dance for a year but has excelled rapidly. Her coach gets accused of bringing in a "ringer". She wants that trophy and has a good chance to get it.

My son is taking a music class at Ohio University and he has a concert the same weekend. He's been playing clarinet since the 3rd grade. I've never seen a college band perform in concert. But it's not like I'll be able to hear him as an individual.

I've seen my daughter skate in many competitions. It's been 3 years since I've seen my son in a concert band. I want to be there when my daughter wins (or loses) that trophy. The wife is going to see my daughter. If I don't see my son, no one will be there. He probably doesn't care either way.

Which do I go see?

well that's one less pet in the house

Wife and Daughter got invited to Fort Wayne Indiana for a Vera Bradely show. But son invites Wife to OU for Mom's weekend. I volunteer to take my daughter thinking it as an ice skating show not a stupid purse thing.

We get there and I am amazed to get a parking spot up front at the Coloseum. Unfortunately the line extended deep into the parking lot and we had to walk 15 min just to get to the end of it. Our friend from Indiana finds us.

We then wait in line for an hour to get in.... register and they proceed to shop.

My daughter buys 14 items with a "suggested retail value" of $650 for $250. I get i line to pay as they were looking down the last isle since the line wrapped around the room. What I didn't realize is that it went out of the room and down the hall for a few hundred feet and wrapped back around, and then after going through the main shopping floor it went out again through several turns. It moved fast but we probably waited in that line for 90 minutes.

Had a great lunch and wonderful convesation with my daughter on the way home. I let her drive back.
