My favorite song of the dayOther · March 31st, 2010 08:04 The Besnard Lakes - And This Is What We Call Progress What's in a name?Other · March 30th, 2010 21:44 For whatever reason, many of the girls who have been closest to me in my life had a first name beginning with the letter "L": Lynda And to top it off, three of them had the same full initials of "L.S." I don't entirely know why, but I may have a clue. I am sponsoring a chldOther · March 29th, 2010 21:48 I am going to "sponsor" a girl in the Dominican Republic from a company called Children International. I am not 100% convinced that the money goes directly to the child but it seems reasonable. The company has been around for over 70 years so they must be doing something right. Plus it seems to me to be the right thing for me to do, at this time. It's been awhile since I tried to save someone, and when I did, I had the best years of my life.... More Susanna HoffsOther · March 29th, 2010 19:15 As I wrote a few days ago, I think Susanna Hoffs is one of the most hypnotic girls I have ever seen. It also didn't hurt that she wore about the most incredibly short skirts while performing. Around 1996, she gave a free lunchtime concert at the World Trade Center. I got there early to get a good seat, about 50 feet from the stage. She didn't disappoint. While I had only pure intentions watching her, I am pretty sure I glimpsed her panties...probably a dream that many other guys would have loved to have. But her best quality is how she uses her eyes...and she knows it. The Bangles - In Your Room Maybe Mama was right, but it sure was fun!Other · March 29th, 2010 07:44 Three Dog Night - Mama Told Me Not To Come Proverbs 12:25Other · March 28th, 2010 19:42 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression The OfficeOther · March 27th, 2010 23:12 · 3 comments I started watching the TV show "The Office" last year when they started showing reruns. The first time I saw it I didn't like it because of them talking to the cameras all the time. But it really is a great show, especially if you have worked in a lot of offices. The characters have very real qualities and the situations are very funny. Last night there was a new HR person (Holly) who was introduced to a heavy guy named Kevin as someone who was hired as part of a special program for the develeopmentally slow (which he is not). So Holly sees Kevin at a snack machine and she thinks he is confused how to use it. She counts his money for him then tells him which snacks he can buy with the money. He doesn't catch on that she is treating him like a moron, but says to the camera that he likes her and that she is very helpful. I laughed out loud. I'd say her values are corrupted but she is open to changeOther · March 27th, 2010 09:23 · 1 comment I think Susanna Hoffs in this video of a great song is irresistable. She is the epitome of what it means to be pretty, and seems vulnerable too. She has a way of looking into the camera like she is looking straight into your soul. As she sings, "He is crazy for this girl". If She Knew What She Wants - The Bangles And I think I am going to love you for a long, long timeOther · March 26th, 2010 06:41 Linda Ronstadt - Long Long Time John Donne - Meditation XVIIOther · March 25th, 2010 07:01 No man is an island, entire of itself. Every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee. My favorite song of the dayOther · March 24th, 2010 08:00 · 1 comment This is my favorite song of the day. The Script - Breakeven (Falling to Pieces) SquirrelsOther · March 21st, 2010 21:52 I have been feeding the squirrels where I live. There is a picture of one of them in the comments section of my profile. :) I don't recommend any stocks butOther · March 19th, 2010 18:12 this is an interesting interview: Alex ChiltonOther · March 19th, 2010 05:54 The influential rock musician Alex Chilton died yesterday. This was his biggest single when he was with the Box Tops: The Letter - The Box Tops In the 80s, The Replacements paid homage to Chilton with this song: Alex Chilton - The Replacements Spirit - Van MorrisonOther · March 17th, 2010 22:25 When you've given up hope & you're down in despair Some Van Morrison for St. Patrick's DayOther · March 17th, 2010 15:49 Glad Tidings - Van Morrison "Moondance" album And we'll send you glad tidings from New York Do you know any secrets?Other · March 17th, 2010 08:56 · 1 comment There are many kind of secrets, big and small. I am thinking about ones that only someone who trusts you deeply would ever share with anyone. A friend of mine once told me a secret that was kind of shocking but the kind of relationship we had was such that we could tell each other such things. Since it is still a secret, I can't share it here. Secrets - O.M.D. A song for Tuesday afternoonOther · March 16th, 2010 08:08 And it is appropriately named Tuesday Afternoon by the Moody Blues. Give this song a listen and see if it makes sense to youOther · March 15th, 2010 18:06 When I am thinking the right way, this song expresses what I believe to be the truth: The Balance - The Moody Blues A few words from Joel OsteenOther · March 15th, 2010 17:47 Friend, God knows how to turn the hearts of people, and if He doesn't turn them, He can certainly move them out of the way. You have to remember that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf. He's got the right people, the right breaks, the right opportunities lined up for you. With God there are no disadvantages. You may have been through some bad breaks in life. You may have had some disappointments, but let me encourage you; don't stay on that page. There are new chapters up ahead. The Scripture talks about how God has recorded every day of our life before we were ever even born. That means there's a book already written with your life story in it, and it has a great ending! It's not over until God says it's over, so keep standing, keep believing, keep hoping because God has wonderful things in store for your future! You Have Your Own Special Way - GenesisOther · March 14th, 2010 21:04 One of my favorite Genesis songs: BeliefOther · March 14th, 2010 18:28 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." "Hitch" Wedding Dance Ending of MovieOther · March 11th, 2010 20:45 A great ending to the movie Hitch. My friend ThressaOther · March 11th, 2010 08:57 · 2 comments I worked with a girl named Thressa and she became one of my best friends. She was very pretty, smart, and had a tendency to attract famous people. She was dating a member of the Harlem Globetrotters, was good friends with Sean Combs (P. Diddy) since college, and she also used to hang out with Heavy D. Speaking of which, here is: Heavy D and The Boyz - Now That We Found Love VoltaireOther · March 10th, 2010 16:36 "One always begins with the simple, then comes the complex, and by superior enlightenement one often reverts to the simple. Such is the course of human intelligence." Data Execution Prevention errorOther · March 8th, 2010 22:50 · 1 comment I bought a new HP Pavilion desktop computer. It seems to work great except on spinchat. First it seemed not to have the java code and downloaded and installed it. Then when I try to sign in, the computer gives me a "Data Execution Prevention" error and makes some comment about malicious code. I have to research it further. Till then using my other computer on spinchat. John 10:10Other · March 7th, 2010 19:51 · 1 comment "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." Johnny and Mary - Robert PalmerOther · March 7th, 2010 10:48 Johnny is always running around trying to find certainty He needs all the world to confirm that he ain't lonely. InvestingOther · March 6th, 2010 21:53 Investment "experts" will always tell you the way to invest is to diversify your portfolio, that is to have investments in many different companies and sectors. However my experience has been that this approach will only ensure that you will not get rich, and at best will keep up with how the stock market is doing on average. I have tried investing in a variety of companies, as well as heavily investing in one or two companies only. When I diversify, I have usually broken even, or had a small profit or loss. When I invested heavily in one or two companies that I strongly believed would do well, I have gotten huge profits. This approach however is obviously not for everyone. Also, the largest potential profits are in companies the "experts" will tell you to avoid. A great movie soundtrackOther · March 4th, 2010 06:01 This list may be the best movie soundtrack I have ever seen. It is from the movie Grosse Point Blank starring John Cusack. Besides being an amazing compilation of songs, somehow the woman who I have cuddled with the most in my life made the #21 song on this list. True story, I don't think I have ever held anyone in my arms more than her. You just never know who you might meet. Grosse Point Blank Soundtrack 01. Father and Son - Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam)Other · March 3rd, 2010 09:36 Sometimes you can find a song that helps to understand a bit about life, about being young, being old, being a father, and being a son. Sometimes a song doesn't give you answers but insights. This is one of those I believe, a song between a father and a son: Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) - Father and Son My favorite Cat Stevens songOther · March 2nd, 2010 23:26 I admit I love Cat Stevens' music. In high school we had to make a music video and I used one of his songs as the soundtrack. It wasn't this song, but this is my favorite Cat Stevens song. If you like it, you probably will like the album it is on, Tea for The Tillerman. I started burning some of the LPs to CDs and they sound pretty good. The copy software has a restoration feature that removes some of the imperfections on the vinyl and works very well. |
