Suddenly he fell asleep. It wasn't an ordinary sleep. It was the kind of sleep that slowly sneaks up on you, and suddenly strikes.
He hadn't slept like this for ages. He had spent a lot of dark, lonely hours questioning everything from how he was going to get his hands on some money to where the name of the street he lived in originated.
Soon the REM phase started kicking in and he had surreal visions. Visions that would change his life in ways he wouldn't foresee as soon as he woke up.
He was locked in a cell, how he got there was a mystery. All sorts of people we're walking past his cell and other were grouped together talking although he couldn't make out what they talked about.
Suddenly the cell door was opened and the girl he secretly had a crush on in his waking life entered. Just as abruptly as the door had opened it closed.
He noticed something strange about her. The air surrounding her had this eerie glow. Or better said, an absence of glow. It seemed as if all the light that came near her was sucked in to never return.
She sat down in a corner, ignoring him. He went up to her, asked her what she was doing in here but she didn't answer. It was almost as if she couldn't see or hear him.
After a while he gave up and returned to look outside the cell. All the people were frozen. He heard a clock ticking in the distance.
He started to sweat profoundly and became scared. He jumped as he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Look," she said, "I took one of these" and she handed him a small medicine bottle with one pill in it. He held the bottle up to his face and looked at it.
He got up on the bed and called for a guard. It didn't take long before someone came. "What is it?" he asked. "My cellmate has taken a pill like this one" he mumbled as he reached over the wall to give the guard the bottle. "We'll take care of it" the guard replied. His eyes followed the guard as he walked away.
From the corner of his eyes he saw something and uttered "How...?"
The girl, for which his heart bled quietly, was walking past the cell to the left. He got off the bed and looked at the right side wall. It had been lifted and pushed aside, creating an opening, from which she must've escaped the cell.
He yelled at the guards.
As she walked further down the hall the guards swarmed around her from every direction. They divided into 5 groups and produced these concrete walls they used to box her in. One group put a wall on top, functioning as the ceiling. After that they bolted each wall shut so she couldn't escape.
As he turned of the alarmclock he grabbed a ciggarette and quietly smoked it in his bed, wondering what the hell this dream was supposed to mean.
