There has been this amazingly bright object in the sky, pretty low on the horizon, west, southwest of me. What is it?
its santa and he's dropping in early.
Haha. No. It's either a planet or...star...something quite brilliant though.
2 years low in the sky either way would be venus then it switches to the other side.
probably venus or one of the planets
well it ant the bloody Angel Gabriel thats for sure
yeah it's probably Venus. Or it could be some cool outer space aliens monitoring you. Or maybe it's the Russians
the space station
If it was around 6.10/6.15, ISS is a possible explanation:
Venus is in a similar position, but even at ISS's peak, much further above the horizon:
Or maybe a child has been born unto us in Bethlehem, Yucatán.
Maxoth, you always deliver. Thank you.
Wolframalpha does, 'tis amazebubbles.
What time of day has it been appearing? Could be the ISS, which is sometimes brighter than Venus. Bloody NASA, stinking up the sky! They'll be advertising Persil up there next.
Last night it was around 7pm. The night before...no, it had to have been Tuesday it was ...6 pm. But if it was Wednesday then it was late. I only catch it when I'm headed west on US 1, mostly, but my work schedule fluctuates so much, I can't be certain.
It had to have been Wednesday, whichbmeans it was closer to 8pm.
I think it was Venus then. At 8pm on Wednesday from your location, Venus was 10 degrees up from the horizon and about 15 degrees west of southwest. The ISS was much closer to the south.
Thank you, the_orc. :D
I've now looked some more. I'm sure it was Venus. The ISS travels fast across the sky, and made only one pass on 21 Dec, whizzing across the sky in a few minutes shortly after 6pm.
Thank you, so now I know. :D And the opinions have become knowledge. Fantastic.
It s a plane , it s a bird , it's a frog , not plane or bird or even frog , it s just little old me , underdog
its me... shhh ooOOoo
I thought you were talking about the Sun. We don't see much of that in Cleveland this time of year.
I on the other hand live in the sunshine state.
