Black Friday Asphalt Bargain Run

Other · · 5 comments

Well, while everyone else was out shopping for bargains, the wife and I found a couple for ourselves, as well. And we didn't even have to go to Wal-Fart to get them. In fact, I don't think Wally World carries antique gliders made back in the late thirties. We just can't get over our good fortune! The wife has been searching for one of these for years and not only did we find one but, we now own an all original garden glider with the original paint and it's in nearly perfect condition with no rust at all. Most of these gliders go for 800 and up if they're restored. One like this? Oh could be worth a whole lot more than the $200 we paid. It's obvious that the previous owners loved this piece and kept it some place protected (enclosed porch?) as it has little or no signs of age, or touch-ups. There is a couple very small spots on the arms where the paint has been chipped. It's easy to see the primer below and tell this is the original paint. It was priced to sell as they were moving and just wanted it gone.
And for my Christmas present? A new guitar amp. This little monster could rattle the neighbors dishes off the wall six blocks away! OK...maybe not....but, so far I haven't been able to turn it up past 1/2....just loud enough to hear it. At Number One setting on the volume knob, well......let's just say you might need some cotton balls. Since we had to drive to Kansas City to get the glider, the wife found an ad on Craigslist (you're all-in-one shopping center...)for this amp. It was in new condition, the fellow decided he wanted to upgrade to something bigger (why??) and just hardly ever used this one. Not a scratch, dent, mar, buzz, whizzle, snap, pop or--oooww--eeeeeee....and CHEAP! I paid less than half of the original price. Probably a bit more than what a pawn shop would have given him but, I'm just as happy as can be. I'm putting an ad up on Craigslist. This band is going to rock. Of course, might be hard to get people to come and watch an old fart like me wailing on the guitar.....But, hey...the doctor did say I needed more exercise. Now if I could just figure out how to record my songs onto my blog......
