I remember the statement of some college aged student in chat from years back: "Hey, but when you get old, you won't care any more, cuz you'll be a millionaire and you'll be warming yourself by the fire of your fireplace imported and rebuilt brick by brick from Scotland, while looking with admiration at your beautiful supermodel wife, laying there naked on the bear skin rug, playing with hour beautiful baby.".

I actually think the family-orientation of that whole scenario is very warm and admirable. But yeah, the things that were gonna happen when we get up in age.

on

In retrospect, all wishes of the young to be older were only and strictly an outcrop of desiring a greater empowerment. And a greater autonomy. To be something which can function without the controls and restrictions placed on the young, that's all it was.

i never for once ever dreamt i d be a millionaire SuperCoolKid , i d never any actual dreams of old age, but if i had ve done i m sure they would nt ve been what i have now... :)

on

Oh, You are so right,

on

Well, some had ambitious dreams. Things like fast cars, cool looking biz jets, and mansions do attract, and so some kids, in their enthusiasm, and in their not knowing how hard those things are to get, they pictured them in their future.

I remember also when I had some problems writing my first programs in college, there was one computer lab assistant who would say, "Hey, this polyester suit will be replaced by an Italian silk and wool combo fabric suit when I get my degree as a computer scientist... and then, I won't have to help new people like you, who are trying to make their first program work.".

For having picked computer science, I believe that that kid would achieve that dream. They are paying them hundreds of thousands, even just for their shit nowadays.

Many ppl lost money when I turned 50 , many of therm highly trained medical specialists.

on

i ve never had money to lose whtsxrl24 lol

on

Hoooray for medical specialists being the ones to lose money. Finally!!! Some freaking justice in the world.

And the more you get past 50, the more you understand what I mean. I am personally speaking from observations of the experiences of my elderly parents.

I suppose we all had our dreams of making it rich in life, At 21 it was a rock and roll band, crazy drunk/stoned/wasted nights, chasing girls on Van Nuys Ave. in my beat up old VW bus and generally being broke and wondering when our next gig would be and if the band would stay together long enough to get paid. the thought of mansions, Mazzarati's and bimbo babes on bearskin rugs never entered my mind. I was more concerned with where I was going to score my next lid.

Old age sucks bestie wait till you get to my age everything seems to suck xx

Even my suck sucks....OK...... that came out wrong....the only good thing about getting old is you can be totally creepy, off-color and smelly and people expect it of you.

I am not there yet, checkmark, but I got two things to say:

1)What you said is a cowardly way to give someone a carte blanche.

2)What you said is more evident of a man who has lost and given up, even as to his own dignity.

That's how I see it, like it or not.
